Parent’s Workshop
Our next class will be held in Fall of 2019 with an official date TBA. If you would like more information regarding upcoming workshops, please complete the form below.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is designed for parents who have found themselves confused, frustrated, or feeling guilty while trying to respond to their child’s worry.
Learning how to respond to anxiety is hard and like many other parenting challenges, no one gives us the guidebook on how to do it. I’m sure you’ve felt yourself fall into the “logic trap” already. The trap is when we try to reassure our child that the worry they have is unlikely and illogical, therefore there’s no need to worry about it.
Anxieties come in all varieties and seem to come out of nowhere. Chances are, I have worked with your child’s version of anxiety already. The good news is that no matter the “topic” of anxiety, the way we treat it and respond to it generally remains the same.
Some common anxious topics:
- Health
- Relationships
- Grades
- Doing something wrong/being in trouble (guilt anxiety)
- Getting sick (throwing up in public)
- Passing out
- Friends or family getting sick/hurt
- Public speaking
- Appearance
- Social conversation
- Phobias
- Intrusive/unwanted taboo thoughts (harm, sexuality, religious themed)
The good news is that there is a better way to respond to anxiety that avoids logic traps.
